Mission

The mission of the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology program is to advance student study in the field of electrical engineering. The curriculum is designed to provide a solid theoretical foundation in electric circuits, digital techniques, control systems, communications systems, microprocessors, and microcontrollers. The hands-on experience of using measurement tools and engineering software will enable students to integrate into the modern industrial environment. Students are required to earn a minimum grade of “C” in all major courses.

Program Educational Objectives

The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) for graduates of the South College Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology are:

  1. The graduates of the program will possess a strong technical background in electrical engineering technology concepts and related technology to qualify for entry level positions in industry supplemented with skills training and lifelong learning.
  2. The graduates of the program will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills in preparation for assuming technical and managerial leadership roles throughout their career.
  3. The graduates of the program will serve as a productive team member or team leader, demonstrating ethical behavior, social sensitivity, and professional responsibility.

Student Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology program will accomplish the following outcomes:

  1. An ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
  2. An ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
  3. An ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly defined technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
  4. An ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
  5. An ability to function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.
