Nursing, Nursing Informatics Concentration Information

Concentration Overview

The Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Nursing Informatics program is 67 credit hours and can be completed full-time in 7 quarters. The program is designed to help prepare students to build foundational competencies in nursing informatics. With the increasing adoption of electronic health records (EHRs) and other health information technologies in healthcare facilities, the program prepares nurses to effectively manage and leverage these systems. Technological advancements and data analytics are propelling a significant transformation in the healthcare industry, focusing on enhancing patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Informatics nurses serve as vital agents in facilitating this transformation by bridging the gap between clinical practice and technology, ultimately improving health systems and enhancing patient health outcomes.

Graduates completing the MSN with concentration in Nursing Informatics program will be eligible to sit for the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Board Certifying Exam in Nursing Informatics (http://nursingworld.org). Students are encouraged to become members of the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA) professional organization, the nursing organization that supports ongoing professional development in informatics during and after obtaining a degree.
