NSG 5330 Financial Management in Healthcare Organizations Lecture: 4 Lab: 0 Practica: 2 Total Credits: 6 This course focuses on concepts and issues in budgeting and basic accounting principles, managing operating budgets within established performance standards, forecasting, prioritizing and establishing procedures to ensure accurate documentation and charge capture, and educating team members on the financial implications of patient care decisions are discussed. Budget formulation, decision making, variance analysis, financing in healthcare, models for forecasting, addressing throughput issues, implementing professional practice models, and program planning. The emphasis is on practical methods and techniques within a wide variety of healthcare situations. Students have the opportunity to practice and reinforce their financial management skills through online simulation modules or technology-enhanced learning experience.
