PAS 5440 Emergency Medicine

This course is designed to introduce students to acute and emergent care of patients across the lifespan. A systems-based approach is utilized with particular focus on common patient presentations and the diagnosis and management of their causal disease processes. Topics in managing the critically ill patient’s airway, breathing, and circulatory status are also addressed. The laboratory portion of the course includes instruction in the performance of common technical skills useful in the emergent setting.
