Clinical Education I is a competency-based clinical experience that enhances students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills in sonography. Building on prior learning, students advance to more complex examinations, mastering sonography equipment and procedures under direct supervision. This course bridges the gap between lab training and real-world clinical practice. Emphasis is placed on patient care, safety protocols, effective communication, and professional interaction. Students adhere to clinical affiliate policies, HIPAA regulations, and the patient’s bill of rights while implementing ergonomic best practices. Assessment focuses on proficiency in echocardiographic views, window acquisition, and equipment operation, reinforcing the sonographer’s role as a healthcare team member.
