EDU 7072 Diffusion & Adoption of Technology Innovations

Lecture: 9 Lab: 0 Practica: 0 Total Credits: 9
This course focuses on exploring the theories, research, and strategies related to the diffusion and adoption of instructional technology innovations in education and training. The course emphasizes the best practices in implementation and use of instructional technology innovations. One of the key objectives of the course is to explore why and how stakeholders (individuals, groups, educational organizations) adopt or fail to adopt an innovation or change within their practice. The course examines various theoretical models of technology adoption, including the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the Diffusion of Innovations (DOI) theory, and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The course also explores the factors that influence technology adoption, such as perceptions of usefulness and ease of use, social and cultural norms, organizational and institutional policies, and economic and resource constraints. Through case studies and hands-on activities, students will develop practical skills and strategies for overcoming barriers to technology adoption and promoting successful implementation and use of instructional technology innovations in educational and training contexts.
