OTD 6270 Brain, Behavior, and Occupation

This course explores the foundational principles of neuropsychology with an emphasis on their application to occupational therapy practice. Students examine the relationship between brain structure, cognitive function, and behavior, gaining insight into how neurological processes influence human occupation. The course covers key topics such as sensory and motor systems, cognitive functions, emotional regulation, and neuroplasticity. Case studies and practical examples highlight the impact of neurological conditions on daily living, including occupational performance across the lifespan. Through interactive learning and evidence-based approaches, students develop skills to assess and support clients with neurological challenges, enhancing their ability to promote independence, well-being, and occupational engagement.
