NSG 5600 Informatics and Healthcare Compliance and Quality

This course focuses on the role of the nurse informaticist in quality control and improvement. Students review evaluation methodologies and measurement tools utilized in the healthcare setting. introducing evaluation methodologies, measurement tools, and change management techniques. This course also introduces students to the legal and ethical standards, malpractice, copyright law, scopes of practice, security regulations, and HIPAA compliance. The regulation, reimbursement, and accreditation requirements and processes are discussed to guide students through the professional practice regulations associated with nursing informatics.
