NSG 6700 DNP Scholarly Project Seminar

Lecture: 5 Lab: 0 Practica: 5 Total Credits: 5
This course is composed of 5 distinct parts that include the element of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Scholarly Project. This course culminates with a well-constructed and implemented DNP Scholarly Project. In each of the distinct parts of the course students will identify a clinical, professional, or administrative, problem related to their area of specialization. They will select and apply a change theory and evidence-based practice framework to the scholarly project. The literature is organized, summarized, and synthesized. The literature is used to design evidence-based interventions, predict, and analyze outcomes, and aid in identifying evidence gaps. Students will develop a methodology for the scholarly project and submit a project proposal. Sampling strategies, measurement, data collection, and data analysis plans are included. The course also addresses institutional review board processes. The scholarly project will be implemented at the practicum site. By the end of the course the focus is the completion of the project. The course requires a plan for dissemination of the project and concludes with a final scholarly paper and a final public power point presentation poster of the scholarly work. Students will complete 750 hours toward their DNP Scholarly Project. These 750 hours count toward the DNP required 1000 hours of practicum hours. NSG 6700 is taken in conjunction with Practicum I, II, and III.
