ECH 1410 Cardiac Electrophysiology Lecture: 4 Lab: 0 Practica: 0 Total Credits: 4 This course provides a comprehensive exploration of the electrical and mechanical activities of the heart. Students delve into the principles of electrophysiology, learning how electrical signals are generated and conducted through the heart. By analyzing EKGs and correlating them with echocardiographic findings, students gain a deep understanding of the cardiac cycle and its impact on cardiovascular hemodynamics. This course content also emphasizes identifying and interpreting various EKG rhythms, including pacemaker rhythms, conduction defects, and arrhythmias. Additionally, students learn to recognize EKG signs of ischemia, injury, and infarction, and explore how cardiac medications can influence EKG and echocardiographic findings.
Prerequisite(s): ECH1310 with a grade of C or better
