This course provides a comprehensive introduction to Diagnostic Medical Sonography with a strong emphasis on cardiovascular anatomy and physiology and its critical role in healthcare. Students explore the heart, great vessels, and peripheral vasculature, gaining a thorough understanding of cardiac structure, including its chambers, valves, and major vessels. The course also includes coverage of the heart’s function, examining the cardiac cycle, hemodynamics, and cardiac output to establish a solid foundation in cardiac physiology. Alongside these technical aspects, the course content delves into the principles, practices, and policies of healthcare organizations while fostering an appreciation for human diversity to enhance understanding of patients, families, and professional peers.
