ECH 2110 Echocardiography I

Lecture: 4 Lab: 0 Practica: 0 Total Credits: 4
This course provides a comprehensive overview of cardiac valvular anatomy and function, with a focus on understanding valvular diseases. Students explore the pathological processes underlying various valve disorders and learn to apply key calculations, including the continuity equation, Bernoulli’s equation, and Doppler formulas, to assess valvular function. The course content establishes a strong foundation in the principles of preload and afterload and how these relate to pressure and volume overload in valvular pathology. Additionally, prosthetic valves and their associated surgical procedures are covered.

Prerequisite(s): ECH1410 with a grade of C or better
