ECH 2210 Echocardiography II

Lecture: 4 Lab: 0 Practica: 0 Total Credits: 4
This advanced echocardiography course provides a comprehensive exploration of specialized imaging techniques and their application in evaluating complex cardiac conditions. Students delve into the identification and assessment of cardiac masses, mastering transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) principles and applications. The course covers the use of contrast agents to enhance imaging and evaluate myocardial perfusion, as well as in-depth analysis of diastolic dysfunction, including its mechanisms and echocardiographic assessment. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on correlating echocardiographic findings with clinical presentations and disease processes, enabling students to perform both qualitative and quantitative analysis of cardiac function. Furthermore, students explore cutting-edge techniques such as intraoperative echocardiography, intravascular echocardiography, strain imaging, and 3D echocardiography, gaining a comprehensive understanding of their diagnostic capabilities in modern cardiac care.

Prerequisite(s): ECH2110 with a grade of C or better
