DMS 2455 Clinical Education V Lecture: 0 Lab: 0 Practica: 7 Total Credits: 7 Clinical Education V is the fifth and final course in the Clinical Education series, marking the transition to independent performance in diagnostic medical sonography. Under the indirect supervision of professional sonographers, students demonstrate competency by performing a full range of sonographic examinations with minimal assistance. As the culminating clinical experience, students are expected to meet rigorous competency standards established by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). They independently conduct both routine and abnormal sonograms efficiently within the designated appointment time. Additionally, students must accurately explain clinical findings, write preliminary reports, and process exams through the PACS system. The ultimate goal of this course is for students to confidently perform nearly all scheduled sonograms each day with minimal errors or omissions, ensuring they are fully prepared to enter the workforce as skilled and competent diagnostic medical sonographers.
